You can have loads of fun on the beaches in Crete. Whether you’re in the mood for extreme sports or just laid back lounging, establishments on the beaches of Crete can supply you with a wide array of activities. In most resorts or organized beaches where crowds usually dwell, you’re sure to find a lot of rentals and activities to be done. Whether you would like to try windsurfing, waterskiing, speedboat rides, rafting, canoeing, kayaking or laser sailing is all up to you. There are lessons for beginners for windsurfing and waterskiing in most crowded beaches or high end private resorts. Prices for rentals and lessons may vary from place to place, so it’s best to look around or ask around before you actually decide.
Beaches like Chrissi Akti or Golden Beach and Aghia Marina in the town of Chania, Hani Kokkini Beach in Heraklion and Aghios Nikolaos Beach in Aghios Nikolaos are just some of the beaches to go to if you want to have great fun with water sports. The beaches also have a lot of amenities like sports facility areas, restaurants, beach bars, tavernas, swimming pools and children’s playgrounds.
If you’re vacationing with your family or are tugging kids along, then water parks are a perfect place to head to. Water parks are developed areas with special recreational facilities for the whole family to enjoy. They are perfect for families because they cater both to children and adult’s fun needs as they have pools for different levels, wild waterslides, children’s playgrounds, restaurants, cafeterias, mini – markets, boutiques – even pool tables, basketball and volleyball courts!
There are three private water parks to choose from in Crete. These are Water Park Anopolis in Anopolis is open from April to October, Water Park Limnoupolis, which is eight kilometers outside the city of Chania, and Water Park in Hersonnissos in Limenas.
